Tesla FSD v14 Lite After 3 Months: 90% of My Driving on FSD (2020 Model 3)
Three months of FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite on a 2020 Model 3 Standard Range Plus (HW3) in Korea. The car's Self-Driving Stats screen shows 1,777 of 1,969 km (90.2%) on FSD, a 97.2 km longest run and a 65-day streak. Plus what v14 Lite is and how v14.3 Lite, already rolling out abroad, differs, with sources.
"How much do you actually use FSD Lite?" I have been asked that a lot since Tesla Korea started rolling out FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite on July 10, 2026. Numbers answer it better than words, so here is the Self-Driving Stats record from my own car's screen, as is. The short version: by the screen's count, I drove 90.2% of my distance on FSD.
In this post, my own experience is limited to what the car's screen shows and my purchase history. Everything about v14 Lite and v14.3 comes from news reports and Tesla's release notes, with the sources named.
My car and FSD purchase history
- Car: Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus (SR+), 2020 model year. Ordered July 2020, delivered September 2020. Its name is "Greengoblin".
- Self-driving computer: HW3, which is why it gets v14 Lite rather than the full FSD build.
- June 2022: bought Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)
- July 10, 2026: when FSD v14 Lite launched in Korea, upgraded to FSD (Supervised). That was before the August 21 switch to subscription-only, so the option stays with the car.
- Current version: FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite
I cover the subscription switch, pricing and how to check whether your car can use FSD in my Korean guide to the ₩150,000-a-month FSD subscription, and this car's running costs in my Model 3 one-year cost breakdown (both in Korean).
Three months in numbers: my Self-Driving Stats

The actual Self-Driving Stats screen in my car (Greengoblin), captured October 2026
| Item | Value on screen | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Assisted driving share | 90.2% | Share of total distance driven on FSD (Supervised) |
| FSD distance / total | 1,777 km / 1,969 km | About 192 km driven manually |
| Longest continuous run | 97.2 km | Longest single stretch on FSD without a break |
| Streak | 65 days | Shown on screen as a "65-day streak" |
| Monthly distance (bar chart) | August in the 600s km, September about 1,000 km, October shortest as it is only mid-month | Rough values read off the chart |
The monthly figures appear only as bars, not numbers, so they are rough readings against the gridlines (322, 644, 966 and 1,287 km). Treat the total above (1,969 km) as the reliable figure.
What 90.2% tells you
Of 1,969 km, the distance I drove with my own hands works out to about 192 km. Put another way, for every 10 km, FSD drove 9 and I supervised. The distance I drove myself is only a ninth of what FSD drove, and that is the number on this screen that stands out most.
97.2 km and 65 days
The 97.2 km longest run is the longest stretch I covered on FSD without breaking it off. The 65-day streak sits alongside a row of daily check marks at the bottom of the screen, and reads as a run of consecutive days with FSD in use.
Note: these statistics are compiled and displayed by Tesla, and the screen does not explain the period or formula in detail. The figures in this post are copied exactly as shown.
What FSD v14 Lite is
v14, distilled for HW3
FSD v14 Lite carries the driving behaviour of FSD v14 for the newer HW4 (AI4) cars over to the older HW3 computer. Tesla says it used distillation, compressing a larger model's judgement into a smaller one, and Korean coverage described it as "applying technology that compresses the AI4-only self-driving neural network so the latest features run smoothly on HW3" (Newsis, July 10, 2026). Tesla's head of AI, Ashok Elluswamy, said on June 29, 2026 that it was rolling out to HW3 early-access customers in North America (Teslarati).
The main changes listed in the release notes (Lite release notes as published by Not a Tesla App):
- Distilled the intelligence of HW4 V14 into HW3, bringing HW4 improvements such as reinforcement learning (RL) to HW3
- Better responsiveness in navigation, merges and forks, pedestrians, traffic lights and cut-ins
- Fewer false slowdowns, smoother steering and more consistent lane centring
- New parking, unparking and reversing
- Arrival Options (choose where to stop: parking lot, street or driveway)
- Speed Profiles available at all times
Korean launch and eligible cars
Tesla Korea said on its official X account on July 10, 2026 that "sequential rollout of FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite begins today". It covers US-built Model 3 and Model Y cars with HW3 and FSD enabled (eToday, July 10, 2026). Korea was the second market after North America. Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport figures put the number of cars using FSD Lite in Korea from July to September at 16,198 (Segye Ilbo, October 6, 2026).
At launch, Tesla also warned that the system "may not perfectly recognise every obstacle, road and traffic situation" and that drivers must stay attentive and be ready to take control at any moment (same eToday report). Driving 90% of the distance on FSD does not mean I was not driving. It is distance I handed to FSD while supervising it, and I want to be clear about that.
v14.3: when will it reach Korea?
I am using v14 Lite very happily, but I do hope v14.3, already out abroad, comes to Korea soon. Here is what has been confirmed so far.
v14.3 for HW4: 20% faster reactions
FSD v14.3 for HW4 cars began rolling out to early testers in North America in April 2026 (Tesla Oracle, April 8, 2026). The latest v14.3.11 release notes include the following (Not a Tesla App, firmware 2026.33.5):
- Rewrote the AI compiler and runtime from the ground up with MLIR, for 20% faster reaction time
- Upgraded neural network vision encoder for better understanding of rare and low-visibility scenarios
- Better handling of emergency vehicles, school buses and right-of-way violators, and of traffic lights at complex intersections
- The Self-Driving app now shows distance driven without intervention and your longest intervention-free streak
v14.3 Lite for HW3: early access in North America first
v14.3 Lite for HW3 began rolling out to North American early-access owners on October 6-7, 2026 (US time) in firmware 2026.33.5 (Drive Tesla, October 7, 2026). However, its release notes are identical, word for word, to v14.2 Lite's, and Tesla has not said what actually changed (TeslAnt). So it is not yet known how much of the HW4 improvements above, such as the 20% faster reactions, made it into Lite.
| Build | For | Status (as of October 14, 2026) | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| FSD v14 Lite | US-built HW3 Model 3 / Y | Rolling out in Korea since July 10, 2026 | Tesla Korea X, eToday |
| FSD v14.3.x | HW4 (AI4) cars | Up to v14.3.12 in North America | Tesla Oracle, Not a Tesla App |
| FSD v14.3 Lite | HW3 cars | Rolling out from early access in North America; no Korean rollout confirmed yet | Drive Tesla, TeslAnt |
Korea was the second market for v14 Lite, so there is reason to hope, but Tesla has not announced a Korean schedule. I will add an update here once there is news.
Three months in, summed up
- Share of driving: by the car's screen, 90.2% of my distance (1,777 km / 1,969 km) was on FSD (Supervised).
- Consistency: a 97.2 km longest unbroken run, and a 65-day streak still going.
- Verdict: I am using v14 Lite very happily. What I am still waiting for is v14.3 Lite in Korea.
- Don't forget: it is supervised. Your hands and eyes must be ready to take over at any time, and responsibility for driving stays with the driver.
For HW3 owners, the biggest change is that a 2020 car can now use FSD to this degree through over-the-air updates alone. To check whether your car qualifies and what a subscription would cost today, start with my FSD subscription guide (in Korean).
FAQ
How is FSD v14 Lite different from regular FSD?
It is a lightweight build that distills FSD v14 for HW4 (AI4) cars into the cameras and compute of the older HW3 computer. Rollout began on June 29, 2026 in North America and July 10 in Korea (Teslarati; eToday and Newsis).
Which cars can use FSD v14 Lite in Korea?
US-built Model 3 and Model Y cars with HW3 and FSD (Supervised) enabled. The China-built Model 3 and Model Y currently sold in Korea are not eligible (eToday).
Has FSD v14.3 Lite reached Korea?
No Korean rollout has been confirmed as of October 14, 2026. v14.3 Lite began rolling out to North American early-access owners on October 6-7, and its release notes match v14.2 Lite's (Drive Tesla, TeslAnt, Not a Tesla App).
What does "90% of my driving on FSD" measure?
It is the "assisted driving" figure on the car's Self-Driving Stats screen. Over the period the screen covers, 1,777 of 1,969 km were driven on FSD (Supervised), shown as 90.2%.
The driving figures in this post are as displayed on my car's screen. Information on v14 Lite and v14.3 is based on news reports and Tesla release notes as of October 14, 2026. Rollout timing and features may change at Tesla's discretion.
